She has a Diploma (1999) and a PhD (2005) from the Department of Environment, University of the Aegean in Greece. Before joining the department of Mechanical Engineering she worked as a Research Scientist at the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (Institute of Nuclear & Radiological Sciences & Technology, Energy & Safety, Energy, Safety and Environmental Technologies Division). She has served as a Postdoctoral Fellow and then as a Research Scientist II at Georgia Institute of Technology, School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.

EΡΕΥΝΗΤΙΚΑ ΕΝΔΙΑΦΕΡΟΝΤΑ

• Understanding the impact of anthropogenic perturbations on climate change

• Improving the ability to predict climate changes by better understanding the roles and interactions of the ocean, atmosphere, land and ice in the climate system

• Advancing the understanding of changes in the Earth’s radiation balance, air quality, and the ozone layer that result from changes in atmospheric composition

• Studying the indirect effect of aerosols on clouds and climate at global and regional level

• The formation and transformation of aerosols and their effect on the concentrations of cloud condensation nuclei

• The physicochemical properties of biogenic aerosols.

She is familiar with both regional and global Chemical Trasport Models (CTMs), Global Climate Models (GCMs), Mesoscale Meteorological models and Air Quality models .
